Back to Technology

Evidently in the Mayan jungle...cell phones aren't the rage. And I guess it stands to reason the same goes for cell towers.

The last few days have been wonderful. We just finished 3-days of VBS work in a Mayan community. Our students went a along with those from Cristo Rey to get kids to come. That was something unique. The first day, we had a little girl from the village translate Spanish to Mayan to help. How cute is that.

We also visited the 2nd Spanish colonized city and was given its history by a tour guide who goes to Cristo Rey and visited Chichen Itza and got a 360 degree tour as well. Lets just say that the Mayans have an intellectually rich civilization.

I was talking with Angela, Liz, Sarah, and Zach about the uniqueness of this project as well as the future possibilities to have a time of living with another culture and not jay living in another culture. We worked with those from Cristo Rey, we served, cleaned, ate, played, and laughed. We did life with them. I heard so many describe the feeling of family. What a picture of heaven!
